Young People Unearthing Their Heritage Project

Vale People First are very excited to announce the launch of their newest project, an online exhibition of Barry past and present.

Titled "Deja Vu in the Vale - Young People Unearthing Their Heritage Project".

The project was very kindly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Déjà Vu team are a group of young people with learning disabilities who researched the history of Barry over a two year project.

It was planned that the exhibition would take place in Barry at the Memo Arts Centre (formerly Memorial Hall). However, due to Covid and a national lockdown, Vale People First had to find other ways to display the exhibition to the general public.

A lot of time and work went into getting the content together and in a digital format. New skills were learnt and the Déjà Vu team quickly adapted to the challenge ahead.

Well, launch day is here and we are very excited to present to you the fruits of our lockdown labour.
