Citizens Panel

What is this?

We meet once a month at the Sir Samuel Romilly pub in Barry on a Tuesday 2.00pm-4.00pm. This group is facilitated by Gordon Powell Vale of Glamorgan and Lucy Walpole from Vale People First.

The purpose of this group is to find out what people who live in Innovate trust or Catrefi houses think about their homes and the support that they receive.

What we do

The Citizens Panel make appointments with people living in these houses. They go along for a social visit and ask prepared questions, which are then given to Gordon to feed back to the Vale of Glamorgan. These answers are very important as they will highlight things that are working and things that aren’t and need changing.

At the meetings members feedback on how they have got on and problem solve any obstacles they have encountered. The members also discuss the questions that they would like to ask.
Another role of the Citizens Panel member is to attend interviews for staff at the Vale of Glamorgan e.g. Social Workers, supported housing staff and Housing Officers. These interviews are very successful and often our members come to the same result as the Vale’s interview Panel.
